Do I need to run bathroom exhaust fan constantly?

do you need to have the bathroom vent running 24/7 in an up stairs bathroom?

Hi Christina,

No, a bathroom exhaust fan doesn’t have to run constantly. It is there to protect indoor air from being contaminated, for example; exhaust excessive moisture from your bathroom to prevent mold growth.

Running your bathroom exhaust fan constantly is not even advisable since it could create negative pressure in your home and compromise performance of fuel burning appliances (gas furnace, gas water heater, etc.).
