Noisy power vent water heater

I own a 14 year old Rheem Power Vent that is located in the far corner of my basement
SN# RN1296G00447
Model# 21VP75E-1
Here is my problem:
The above water heater is much too noisy when the kids are in the basement watching TV.
Is there an easy way to reduce the amount of noise generated from the Rheem Power Vent Gas Water Heater?
I read that the unit requires a large quantity of air to function properly.
Thus, constructing a wall around the unit may not be feasible

Hi Andy,

You can construct a wall but you need to provide an adequate amount of combustion air for the water heater. Check this article – water heater combustion air and let me know if you have any further questions.
